Properties - herbal material: herb - contains arbutins, tannins, erikolin, alkaloids, flavonoids, procyanidins, small amounts of essential oil, citric, tannic and silicic acid, minerals, among others with silicon and potassium - in folk medicine, it is used as an anti-inflammatory (especially for the urethra), diuretic, antirheumatic, sedative and diaphoretic agent - bitter compounds increase the secretion of gastric juice and have a weak diastolic effect - polyphenolic compounds have antibacterial properties - the tannin content inhibits the development of bacterial flora in the digestive tract - the herb has been used in diseases of the kidneys and gastrointestinal tract, prostate enlargement, circulatory and menstrual disorders during menopause - in folk medicine, the herb has been used in diseases of the respiratory tract - heather herb has an astringent and disinfecting effect on the skin and is used in this area in cosmetics - regionally, in folk medicine, infusion of heather herb was given to cows suffering from foot-and-mouth disease |
