Plant description Achiote is a highly branched tree or shrub with a height of 5 to 9 meters. It can be found largely in Peru, Trinidad, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and Hawaii. Compact, dense foliage, leaves about 20 cm long, heart-shape at the base. A fruit contains up to 50 seeds, while a medium-sized tree can provide up to 270 kg of seeds.

Properties Achiote is considered to be a remedy possessing strong anti-inflammatory properties. it is used in ailments of the genitourinary system and prostate diseases.
