Plant description A species of shrub belonging to the birch family. Occurs in the wild state throughout Europe and Asia Minor to the Caucasus. It is a shrub or a small tree densely branched with flexible twigs. It has ovate, rough lithium. The fruit is brown peanuts - surrounded by a hard shell - called hazelnut.
