Plant description A species of annual plant belonging to the Apiaceae family, originating from the Mediterranean, but has also acclimated in colder countries. In the Middle Ages it was considered an aphrodisiac, the Chinese believed that coriander seeds gave immortality to those who consumed them. Known and used already in ancient Rome and Greece, from there it spread throughout Europe, where it is cultivated widely. The green parts of the plant have a strong aroma during the growing season, thanks to which they are highly valued as a spice in some kitchens. Ripe fruits also have a strong aroma, but completely different from the shoots. |

Properties - herbal material coriander fruit often referred to as seeds - has antispasmodic, carminative, diuretic, stimulating gastric acid secretion and appetite - externally used as an ointment for rheumatism - a common kitchen spice, a basic ingredient of the Indian curry spice mixture - they are used as an addition to cakes (apple pie), gingerbread and shortbread cookies, as well as to season tomato sauce, salads and rice - used in butchering, liqueur and brewing - Fresh coriander leaves are a popular spice in many Asian cuisines and in Portuguese, Georgian and Moroccan cuisine |
