Properties Alcoholic extracts of the herb have a relaxing effect on the smooth muscles of the bronchi and the digestive tract, restoring the proper tension of the smooth muscles of the bronchi. They thin the mucus accumulating in the upper respiratory tract and facilitate expectoration. They also destroy bacteria that cause inflammation of the throat and bronchi. Due to the antispasmodic effect on the digestive tract, the extracts combat abdominal pain. In addition, they are sometimes used externally to treat skin symptoms of allergic diseases, acting antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiallergic. In North America, the plant is also used as an auxiliary drug in leukemia and chronic rheumatoid arthritis and muscle disease.
