Plant description Iporoni, iporuro, ipururo, ipurosa, macochihua, niando, pajaro - a medicinal plant originating from the vegetation of the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. For centuries, indigenous peoples of the Amazon have used the bark and leaves of iporuru (Alchornea castaneifolia) for many different purposes and prepared them in many different ways. Throughout the Amazon, iporuro bark or leaves are used to make tinctures (generally with local rum, called aguardiente). |
