Plant description Occurs in almost all of Europe and in southern and western Asia. It is a semi-parasitic plant, it synthesizes nutrients by itself, while water and mineral salts are taken from the host tree. Due to the negligible needs of the host as a rule, mistletoe does not hurt it. The exception are trees additionally weakened by, for example, drought. Mistletoe is a medicinal plant. It also played an important role in ancient beliefs and customs, a role that in some countries has also preserved today. The plant is not a cultivated species and is obtained from the wild state. Used in the pharmaceutical industry. |
