Plant description (Pyrola) genus of plants belonging to the heath family, includes about 35 species. They occur in Europe, Asia and North America, mainly in the northern part of these continents, but also reaching in the south to Guatemala on the American continent and Sumatra in Asia. These plants inhabit pine and light forests, acid forests, as well as heaths and hollows between the dunes. They bloom in June, July and August. |

Properties Properties and application (source – Różański): Pyrola has been used in the following diseases: – prostatitis, problems with proper urination due to swelling and inflammation, infection; – inflammations and infections of the genital and urinary tracts (drinking decoction and rinses at the same time); – catarrh of the digestive tract, diarrhea, indigestion, candidiasis of the digestive tract; – proctitis, bleeding and itchy hemorrhoids (drinking decoction and enemas, sitz baths); – inflammation of the mouth and throat (rinses, drinking decoction); – aphthae, oral candidiasis, gingivitis, bad breath, abnormal processes of amino acid decomposition in the intestines (rinses and drinking decoction); – colds, angina; – inflammation of the skin, discoloration of the skin, acne, especially those that leave spots behind (washing the skin, compresses, drinking decoction); – inflammation of the eyes, dark circles under the eyes (wraps); – wounds that are difficult to heal, eczema (wet), lichens (wraps, drinking decoction) |
