Properties In folk medicine, the herb of the crowberry Herba Empetri was used as an astringent, stimulant, antiscorbutic and strengthening agent. Dry compresses were made from boiled leaves. The Inuit use the fruit to treat diarrhea and are said to be more effective than blueberries. However, if consumed in excess, they are said to cause constipation. The Haida treated tuberculosis with a decoction of crowberry shoots. |
