Properties The leaves were used as an expectorant, anti-inflammatory, and coating agent. In folk medicine, fresh leaves were applied to minor wounds, insect bites, sprains, festering wounds, and ulcers; an infusion was used to wash wounds that were difficult to heal. Fresh leaves were added to salads, and dried leaves were used as an infusion.
